Time, Pressure and Temperature in Injection Molding--Temperture
There are three factors which are important to the injection molding process. These three factors are time, pressure and temperature. In this passage, we talk about temperature in injection molding.
Temperature
Among all kinds of temperature, extruder barrel temperature, nozzle temperature andmould temperature are the most important three ones during injection molding process.
Extruder barrel temperature
During injection molding process, extruder barrel temperature, nozzle temperature and mould temperature should be controlled carefully. Among these three one, the former two is related to the plasticizing and flowability of plastic while the latter one is related to the flowability and cooling of plastic in injection molding process. Different plastic has different melting point and thermo-decomposed temperature, the injection molding temperature should be kept between them. Usually high temperature means relatively good flowability, which sometimes will lead to overflowing and flash while low temperature equals to relative bad flowablity, which will result in melt line,unfilled parts and ripple in injection molding process.
Nozzle temperature
Generally the nozzle temperature should be lower than the barrel temperature. If the nozzle temperature is too high in injection molding process, melting plastic will drool in nozzle and the plastic will decompose because of high temperature. And if the nozzle pressure is too low, cold material may block the nozzle or may be injected into cavities in injection molding process which will lead to unqualified products.
Mould temperature
Mold temperature is also very important because it can directly impact the flowability, the cooling speed and the performance of plastic products.
