To choose right injection molding machines for under developing plastic moulds, we not only need to consider for plastic injection machine injection volume, tie bar distance and min. and max. mold height to put the molds inside, sometimes we also need to check about machine clamping force if enough for plastic molding.
It is usual that the mould can be put inside the machines, but the clamping force is not enough for product manufacturing. In order to solve this, we have some simple ways to calculate clamping force need for production.
Below formula may help you on this respect:
Clamping force = projected area c㎡ X material ratio / 1000
For thin wall products like PP, the material ratio you’d better to use 500 or 600.
And for thin wall products, PP material ratio, it is better to use 250 or 300.
Above is one simple way for us to use during clamping force calculations, but if for big items, it is better to use software to calculate for more precision results.
